Back and forth

Well I was talked into going back to my last place, to help clean up the code, and fix some issues that they have with some of the code that I have written. To be honest I wasn't too sure about this, because when I left, I checked to see that everything works, and I showed someone else the stuff working. All of a sudden, half of my stuff doesn't work, and they're having problems with it.

When I tried running the code on this machine, half of the pages weren't working, but there was an easy fix - it was a simple removing of a . (dot) from some of the names, since someone changed the way the page was being displayed, and couldn't be bothered to go and check all of the instances of that page, to make sure that there would be any more problems.

Another thing that I have noticed was the fact that I was told "To integrate this will be really hard (for me) - can you do it?" - Yet I noticed that that person has already integrated the code on a page that they wanted, and it worked, because its being displayed on that page. Further more, its only one line you have to copy and paste, then it goes off and does its own work to work out what stuff to show - so im really not sure what's going on here.

I think it might have something todo with the team not having enough time to finish the site, so in true team style fashion, you try to spread the blame around as much as you can. Im gunna work my ass off to make sure its NOT my stuff thats at fault. Personally, id rather spend today (Sunday) out cycling in this lovely sunshine, but im stuck at home on my laptop fixing code. Yay :(

you're bang on the money about spreading blame around. it's a symptom of traditional project planning techniques that place "arse covering" over "customer satisfaction". personally, i blame the french.

you did a good job on the Sky site and you should be proud of the end result. salaam!
